Flood Hazards

Flood Hazards

There are areas of Wasatch County that are subject to periodic inundation which may result in loss of life and property, health hazards, disruptions of commerce and governmental services, extraordinary public expenditures for flood protection and relief, and impairment of the tax base, all of which adversely affect the public health, safety and general welfare.  Residents that live near river, canals, creeks, etc. may be in a Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA) as delineated by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).  We use the Flood Hazard Map prepared by FEMA to assist in managing development within the designated flood plains and dispense information to the public based on the FEMA flood hazard maps.  Maps last updated in 2011.

When developing, it is always a good idea to check for flood hazards first.  This page will give you the tools to do that.

At the bottom of this page, PDF files of each panel are provided for download.

Flood Hazard Map

The Flood Mapping application has been discontinued.  The flood data is now included in the Base Map application under the water hazards layer.  This layer is not on by default, you will have to turn it on by using the layer list button.  This layer is scale dependent, as you zoom in on an area of interest, the water hazards layer will become active.   If you are interested in printing a map, use the print button that is part of the map application.
